A Chess Congress with sections U120, U160 and Open
Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th February 2018
Part of the ECF Grand Prix
Frodsham Community Centre, Fluin Lane, Frodsham, Cheshire, WA6 7QN
The Congress is supported by the Frodsham Chess Club
Frodsham station is on the railway line between Manchester and North Wales, half way between Warrington and Chester.
Unfortunately buses replace trains on the line on Saturday and Sunday.
From the station, turn right at the bottom of the station approach, turn right again and bear east along the High Street for 500m and turn right into Fluin Lane, or take the path in the south-east corner of the area south of the station.
By road, Frodsham can be reached via the M56. Leave at Junction 12, following signs to the A56 and continue on into Frodsham. Fluin Lane is the B5152 and runs south from the A56, immediately left after a footbridge over the road. There are signs to the Community Centre, which is on the right. There is a large free car park.
A selection of drinks and light refreshments will be available for purchase during playing hours.
5-round standard play tournament with Minor, Intermediate and Major sections, with Fischer time controls.
Rate of Play
Fischer timing will be used. Each player will have 110 minutes with the addition of 10 seconds for each move made.
If you wish to withdraw during the event, you must notify your section Controller, to avoid inconvenience to your next opponent. Players whose opponents have not arrived within 30 minutes of their clock starting will be re-paired if possible.
The August 2017 Grading List will be used (not the new list to be published in January, except in those cases where a player has a grade in the new list but not in the August list). The February FIDE rating list will be used for the draw in the Open, the other grades being converted as necessary.
Ungraded players must provide information to assist the organisers in allocating them to the appropriate section. Any previous grade must be declared. A player without a current published grade in a grading list recognised by the organisers will not be eligible to win more than £50.00. All results will be submitted to the ECF for grading. It is a condition of entry that players agree to their grading information being published on the ECF website.
There will be a team competition for teams of four who are bone fide members of a club, with the best three scores to count. Prize: a digital clock.
