The 5th Nottingham Tournament was held on Saturday 7th November 1987 in the Portland Building.
The tournament attracted 66 players and had reduced to just three rounds. winner was Edmund Shaw (3d Oxford). Prizes for 3/3 were won by Lionel Naef, M. Gibbs, D. Friar and C. Wright. The best team prize was won by Oxford. Qualifiers were John Dawson (1 dan London) and Mike Charles (1 kyu Hemel).
